The ISOMETER® isoMED527 is an insulation monitoring device for un-earthed power supplies (IT systems) in medical locations. It measures the insulation resistance in medical IT systems with a mains voltage of AC 100…240 V. If the insulation resistance falls below a specified threshold, a device alarm is triggered automatically. The alarm threshold can be flexibly set within the range of 50 to 500 kΩ.

It is available in two device variants. In the basic variant, the insulation resistance as well as the transformer load and temperature of the IT system are measured. Alarm messages are output via the device LEDs and via the RS-485 interface Bender Smart Connect (BSC).

In the advanced version with Function Module A activated, mains leakage capacitance, impedance and mains voltage are also measured to enable a comprehensive assessment of the condition of the medical IT system. Individual thresholds for alarm messages can also be set for these parameters.

Measurement values and alarm messages are made available to other bus participants via the BSC. For display and alarm functions, the use of suitable signalling and testing combinations is recommended in order to meet the relevant standard requirements.

Once an insulation fault has been detected, a targeted insulation fault search can be initiated. Thanks to the use of innovative measurement technology, immediate fault detection is possible without the need for an additional test current generator. The use of the ISOSCAN® EDS551 insulation fault locator is recommended for localising the insulation fault.

The ISOMETER® isoMED527 is equipped with an NFC interface. This allows the device to be configured using the Bender Connect app, both when powered and when unpowered. In addition, device information can be read out, data backups created and function modules installed.

The maximum permissible mains leakage capacitance is 5 μF. Individual parameterisation must be carried out in each case to adapt the system to the on-site installation and operating conditions, in order to meet the requirements of the standards.

Both versions of the ISOMETER® isoMED527 are available from the factory. The basic version can be retrofitted with Function Module A if required. Activation is via licence and is valid indefinitely.
